Essity AB, and its subsidiaries and affiliates such as Essity Hygiene and Health AB (collectively “Essity”, “we”, “us”) are committed to respecting your privacy and protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy describes how Essity collects, uses, discloses, stores, and otherwise processes personal data when you use the TENA SmartCare Bladder Sensor website and the TENA SmartCare Bladder Sensor mobile application (the “App”).


1. Scope of this Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy applies to both the TENA SmartCare Bladder Sensor website and the TENA SmartCare Bladder Sensor App. The data controller responsible for the processing of your personal data is Essity Hygiene and Health AB, Mölndals bro 2, SE-405 03 Gothenburg, Sweden.

Certain processing activities described in this Privacy Policy apply only to specific services or features. In particular, online advertising, marketing cookies, and social media advertising technologies apply to the website only and are not used in the App. The sections below explain which types of data are processed depending on how you interact with our services.

Your IP address is used to enable access to the website or App. Once it is no longer necessary for this purpose, the IP address is shortened by removing the last octet. The remaining metadata is used to analyse usage patterns and improve the quality, security, and performance of the website or App.


2.2 App Analytics (No Advertising)

When you use the App, Essity uses analytics technologies solely to understand usage patterns, evaluate performance, and improve the functionality and reliability of the App.
Advertising, retargeting, or social media advertising technologies are not used in the App.

Analytics data may be aggregated or anonymised and may be processed using thirdparty analytics service providers acting on Essity’s behalf, subject to appropriate safeguards.


2.3 Device Connectivity, Technical and Diagnostic Data

When the App is used in connection with a TENA SmartCare Bladder Sensor device, Essity processes technical and operational data exchanged between the App and the device. This may include:

  • encrypted technical and diagnostic data,
  • performancerelated data,
  • error logs,
  • connectivity information,
  • device identifiers,
  • application or firmware version information.


Such data is processed for the purposes of ensuring proper functioning, safety, maintenance, and quality assurance of the device and the App, including detecting, analysing, and resolving technical issues or malfunctions, and improving products and services. Appropriate technical and organisational security measures are applied.


2.4 Customer Support and Assistance Services

When you contact Essity for customer support or use support features within the App (such as messaging, chat, or automated assistance), Essity processes the information you choose to provide. This may include contact details, message content, and technical information related to your use of the App or device.


This data is processed to respond to inquiries, provide customer support, troubleshoot issues, and improve service quality. Customer support services may be provided by Essity or by thirdparty service providers acting on Essity’s behalf, subject to appropriate data protection safeguards.


2.5 Account, Orders, and Other Services (Where Applicable)

Where relevant features are offered, Essity may process personal data in connection with:

  • user accounts,
  • product orders,
  • delivery and billing,
  • customer care requests,
  • sweepstakes or promotions.

Such processing applies only where these services are available in your market and is carried out for contractual performance, customer service, compliance with legal obligations, and legitimate business purposes.

 

2.6 HealthRelated Data

Depending on the services used, Essity may process healthrelated data where legally permitted and necessary, for example where such data is implied by the use of certain products or services. Health data is treated as sensitive personal data and is processed on the basis of your explicit consent or another applicable exception under Article 9(2) of the GDPR, and is protected in accordance with applicable law.


3. Cookies and Tracking Technologies (Website)

The website uses cookies and similar technologies to improve user experience and website performance.

  • Analytics cookies (e.g. Google Analytics) help analyse website usage and performance.
  • Advertising and social media cookies may be used on the website to measure campaign effectiveness and deliver relevant content, subject to your consent.

These technologies are not used in the App. You may manage your cookie preferences at any time via the Cookie Policy or consent management tools.
